Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to lead the technical discovery and delivery for an AWS MAP Assess-phase engagement. The client operates a live production environment on Azure across Canada and Australia within the online betting/iGaming sector, while their parent company runs fully on AWS.

This is a structured, funded cloud transformation assessment aimed at producing AWS MAP-compliant deliverables that satisfy both AWS funding criteria (ACE submission) and board-level decision-making. You will map existing Azure footprints, apply The 7 R's of Cloud Migration (Rehost, Relocate, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, and Retain), evaluate TCO, and build out the comprehensive migration business case.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Discovery & Mapping: Lead discovery across the client’s Azure environments in Canada and Australia, mapping compute, networking, storage, databases, identity, and CI/CD pipelines to AWS equivalents.

  • Apply the 7 R's Strategy: Evaluate all workloads against Rehost, Relocate, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, and Retain to formulate optimal target-state architectures.

  • TCO & Cost Modeling: Produce both a like-for-like cost comparison (current Azure vs. equivalent AWS) and an optimized, right-sized AWS target-state model.

  • Migration Business Case: Build comprehensive assessment deliverables and business cases robust enough to withstand rigorous evaluation by AWS and the client's board of directors.

  • Modernization & Databricks Assessment: Identify replatforming opportunities leveraging native AWS services and assess the client's existing Azure Databricks environment for migration implications.

  • Risk & Compliance Mitigation: Document migration blockers, addressing strict data residency requirements (Canada/Australia), licensing models, and iGaming/betting compliance constraints.

  • Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Lead client workshops, drive technical Q&A sessions, and support the design of a phased migration strategy (e.g., greenfield deployment in a new jurisdiction followed by legacy migration).

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or cloud architecture, with hands-on experience leading structured cloud migration assessments (AWS MAP experience strongly preferred).

  • Multi-Cloud Proficiency: Proven, deep production-level experience across both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • Cost & Financial Modeling: Demonstrated ability to build accurate TCO and migration business cases that stand up to executive-level and AWS scrutiny.

  • Infrastructure as Code: Strong proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure automation.

  • Networking & Security: Solid networking foundations across both cloud providers (VNets/VPCs, peering, VPNs, DNS, and data residency boundary controls).

  • Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English, with a track record of producing client- and AWS-facing technical deliverables.

  • Certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate minimum; Professional preferred).

Nice to Have

  • Direct AWS MAP Experience: Prior hands-on execution of official AWS MAP Assessment phases and ACE funding submissions.

  • Industry Background: Previous experience working in regulated, compliance-sensitive sectors such as online betting, iGaming, fintech, or digital asset marketplaces.

  • Data & Analytics: Familiarity with Azure Databricks and data platform migrations to AWS (e.g., Databricks on AWS / Amazon EMR / Snowflake).

  • Executive Presence: Proven experience presenting technical cost models and strategic migration roadmaps directly to C-level stakeholders and boards.

Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (Hybrid)
