Senior Platform Engineer, Security

About the Role

This is a founding platform security engineering role on the Infrastructure team at a fast-growing enterprise conversational AI company. You will design, build, and operate the security infrastructure that underpins an AI platform handling sensitive customer data for major enterprises, including large financial-services institutions. The security systems you build directly unlock high-value commercial deals and shape the technical direction of the entire infrastructure security program.

What You'll Do

• Build paved paths and tooling that make secure service creation the default for every engineer at the company.

• Author and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Kubernetes manifests) that automatically enforces secure configurations at scale.

• Own cloud security fundamentals: IAM policies, VPC networking, secrets management, and container runtime hardening across GCP and AWS.

• Establish GitOps workflows and pipelines that embed security controls into the software delivery lifecycle.

• Invest in observability, automation, and self-service tooling so the security infrastructure team can operate with high confidence and strong SLAs.

• Collaborate closely with product and infrastructure engineers to assess risk and deliver durable, well-engineered security solutions.

What We're Looking For

• 3 or more years of infrastructure or application engineering experience at a hyper-growth or VC-backed startup, with a track record of scaling infrastructure systems.

• Hands-on production expertise with Terraform and Kubernetes.

• Strong depth in GCP or AWS cloud infrastructure: networking, IAM, and compute.

• Experience with Docker containerization and production container runtimes.

• Proficiency in one or more of Python, Go, or TypeScript for automation and tooling.

• Experience with GitOps workflows and tooling (such as ArgoCD or Flux) in production environments.

• Solid knowledge of cloud security best practices, including secrets management (e.g., Vault).

• Strong CS fundamentals, ideally from a rigorous undergraduate program.

• Zero-to-one startup experience building systems from the ground up is a strong plus.

• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship is required.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $200,000 to $330,000 USD annually, plus equity. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

On-site in San Francisco, CA, five days per week.
