Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

This is a senior engineering role at a fast-growing healthtech company building AI voice agents that serve as the primary point of contact for medical practices, handling appointment scheduling, patient triage, and administrative workflows. You will work closely with a small, high-caliber engineering team and have direct influence on product decisions and architecture. The work has real impact: the platform is already serving patients across hundreds of clinics and scaling quickly.

What You'll Do

• Build and ship full-stack and backend features for an AI-powered voice agent platform, from initial design through production deployment.

• Collaborate directly with engineering leadership on architecture decisions and product direction.

• Develop scalable, HIPAA-compliant software solutions that handle sensitive patient data reliably.

• Engage with healthcare professionals to understand real-world workflows and translate them into software solutions.

• Participate in an agile environment with rapid iteration cycles and a strong emphasis on ownership and autonomy.

• Contribute to the design and integration of AI and voice technology components within the platform.

What We're Looking For

• 4 to 8 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.

• Strong Python proficiency with demonstrated backend or full-stack experience.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment, particularly GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL and ORM tools such as SQLAlchemy.

• Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI, and message queue systems such as Celery, Redis, or RabbitMQ.

• Frontend experience with React or React Native is a plus.

• Experience with audio and voice technology architecture, or a strong eagerness to develop it.

• Experience building or integrating with AI and ML systems or APIs.

• Prior startup experience, with comfort working in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments.

• Background at a strong engineering organization, whether a top-tier tech company or a well-regarded growth-stage startup.

• Experience with EHR or healthcare systems is a nice-to-have.

• Strong CS fundamentals; a relevant degree from a rigorous program is a plus for candidates earlier in their career.

• Fluent English communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $190,000 to $220,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

This role is fully on-site in San Francisco, California, five days per week.
