Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

This is a senior individual contributor role at a Series B cybersecurity company, focused on building next-generation cybersecurity tooling for the United States federal defense industrial base. You will work across two product tracks: an experimental, fast-moving product team and a foundational infrastructure team, with real ownership and minimal oversight from day one.

What You'll Do

• Develop full-stack features for cutting-edge, experimental products or foundational platform infrastructure.

• Own the full product lifecycle, from planning and design through deployment and optimization, occasionally stepping into a product management capacity.

• Build with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and Ruby on Rails, with opportunities to work in Rust or Node.js on new defense-focused products.

• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering peers in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping to shape team culture and advance collective skills.

What We're Looking For

• 5 or more years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems or full-stack applications.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and at least one modern backend OOP language such as Java, Go, Python, or C#.

• Proficiency with React for frontend development.

• Experience designing and consuming GraphQL APIs.

• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails for backend development.

• Hands-on experience shipping production software in fast-moving environments.

• Experience leading technical projects or mentoring junior engineers.

• Background at a Series A through C stage startup, or a high-bar engineering organization in the cybersecurity or technology sector.

• Strong CS fundamentals, ideally from a rigorous academic background.

• An active coding portfolio or GitHub profile demonstrating recent, completed projects.

• Willingness and eligibility to work on federal defense-related projects (no visa sponsorship available).

• Bonus: experience with Rust or Node.js as an alternative backend language.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $210,000 to $260,000 USD annually. No visa sponsorship is available for this role.

Hybrid role based in Canada.
