Lead QA Test Engineer

As a Lead QA Test Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Nasdaq's North American equities market systems — some of the most complex and high-stakes trading platforms in the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans and scripts to validate the quality and performance of core trading and market data systems.

• Collaborate with development and project management teams to identify, document, and drive resolution of software defects across the full release cycle.

• Lead test planning across all applicable phases, ensuring complete documentation and a clear resolution path for any issues identified.

• Develop and maintain internal testing tools and frameworks that improve efficiency and quality across the broader engineering team.

• Define and continuously improve release and quality assurance procedures to support consistent, scalable software delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and functional testing within a high-performance or financial technology environment.

• Proven experience with automated testing frameworks and back-end systems testing in a command-line/server-based environment.

• Strong scripting skills with the ability to build and maintain test automation and tooling.

• Familiarity with source code management and defect tracking tools used in agile or fast-paced development workflows.

Nice to Have

• Experience testing financial or trading systems, including order routing or market data platforms.

• Exposure to messaging protocols used in financial markets environments.

• Background in quality process improvement or business process analysis.

This position will be located in Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office.

The base pay range for this role is $106,000 - $148,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
