About the Team

The Mission Software Solutions business delivers customised and off-the-shelf software solutions to Defence, Intelligence and other Government customers. We develop and support technologies that address complex operational challenges, delivering trusted capabilities where quality, reliability and mission success are critical.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, you'll collaborate with software engineers, architects, business analysts and customers to ensure high-quality software solutions are delivered to support mission-critical outcomes.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Tester to join our growing team in either Scoresby, Victoria or Canberra.

Working closely with software engineers, business analysts, architects, customers and stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring software solutions are delivered to the highest quality standards. You'll contribute across the full testing lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test planning through to execution, defect management, validation and reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex and meaningful projects while partnering directly with customers and delivery teams to ensure solutions meet both business and user requirements.

About You

You are a customer-focused testing professional who enjoys understanding how systems work, identifying issues and helping teams deliver high-quality software solutions.

You bring strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and a collaborative approach to problem solving. Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, you can communicate testing outcomes clearly while balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced delivery environment.

Most importantly, you enjoy working as part of an integrated team and take pride in delivering quality outcomes that make a difference.

Essential for this role:

  • Review and assess requirements for testability and quality assurance.

  • Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, test cases and test procedures.

  • Conduct functional, integration, system, regression and acceptance testing activities.

  • Execute manual and automated testing and accurately record results.

  • Analyse test outcomes and identify defects, risks and opportunities for improvement.

  • Work collaboratively with software development teams to investigate, prioritise and verify defect resolution.

  • Establish traceability between requirements, test cases, defects and test results.

  • Participate in test readiness reviews and quality assurance activities.

  • Produce clear and concise test reports, metrics and stakeholder updates.

  • Support verification and validation activities to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing practices, tools and processes.

The technical environment includes enterprise software applications, modern software development practices, Agile delivery methodologies and automated testing frameworks.

Essential for this Role

  • Demonstrated experience in software testing across one or more phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases and test procedures.

  • Experience with defect identification, tracking, management and verification.

  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, processes and best practices.

  • Experience using test management and defect tracking tools.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against deadlines.

  • Experience producing quality test documentation, reports and metrics.

Advantageous, but Not Essential

  • Experience testing enterprise or web-based applications.

  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.

  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality assurance practices.

  • Experience conducting performance, load or resilience testing.

  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles and verification and validation activities.

  • Experience working within Defence, Government or other highly regulated environments.

  • Relevant industry certifications such as ISTQB or other software testing qualifications.

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and an active TSPV

Applicants may also need to meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements. In certain circumstances this can place limitations on persons who hold dual nationality, permanent residency or are former nationals of certain countries as per ITAR 126.1.
