Software Engineer (Mid-level to Staff+)

About the Role

This is a hands-on individual contributor engineering role at an early-stage AI platform startup, where engineers personally build and ship across product, platform, and AI infrastructure. The team is building technology that lets businesses delegate real work to AI agents using plain-language instructions. Strong engineering judgment and first-principles thinking matter more here than a narrow specialization or a conventional AI background.

What You'll Do

• Build user-facing product experiences across web and mobile, making powerful agent capabilities feel simple, fast, and trustworthy.

• Invent clear interaction patterns for delegating work to agents, tracking progress, handling uncertainty, and using agent output.

• Own features end to end, from early product thinking through polished, production-ready software.

• Build backend APIs and services powering core product features, including identity, workspaces, permissions, billing, payments, and analytics.

• Develop reliable infrastructure for connectors, authentication, webhooks, automations, and third-party integrations.

• Build the agent harness and supporting AI infrastructure, including orchestration, context management, and execution environments.

• Manage model serving, databases, Kubernetes, networking, and cloud infrastructure at scale.

• Own systems in production and drive improvements in correctness, security, reliability, and operational simplicity.

What We're Looking For

• 3 or more years of experience building and shipping production systems at a strong tech company or startup.

• Production experience with TypeScript across both Node.js backend and React frontend.

• Hands-on experience with GCP and Docker, including owning deployments and debugging at the container and Linux level.

• Currently writing code daily as an individual contributor, with recent hands-on coding experience.

• Strong computer science fundamentals, ideally from a rigorous undergraduate or graduate CS program.

• Ability to discuss technical work clearly and succinctly.

• Bonus: production experience with core infrastructure such as databases, distributed systems, compilers, OS internals, or runtime environments.

• Bonus: founding or early-stage startup experience paired with demonstrable technical depth.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $225,000 to $425,000 USD annually, depending on level and experience. Equity is expected as part of the total package. Visa sponsorship is not available.
