Job Description:

What will you do?

• Assist in implementing cloud infrastructure solutions under guidance

• Participating in cloud migration projects and modernization initiatives

• Follow established cloud governance policies and best practices

• Contribute to cloud resource optimization efforts

• Implement security measures as directed by senior team members

• Execute automation scripts for infrastructure provisioning and management, incorporating GenAI-driven processes

• Support the implementation of multi-cloud or hybrid cloud solutions

• Receive mentorship from senior engineers and learn from their expertise

• Collaborate with team members to align cloud work with business needs

• Monitor performance and assist with capacity planning for cloud environments

• Learn about and experiment with emerging cloud technologies

• Create and maintain documentation for specific cloud systems and processes

• Contribute ideas for improving cloud adoption and utilization

• Assist in troubleshooting issues in cloud environments

• Participate in routine security checks and assessments

• Seek guidance on cloud-related decisions from senior team members

• Participate in after hours work and on-call rotation as required

Strategy and Innovation:

• Assist in implementing cloud solutions aligned with the organization's strategy

• Learn about and experiment with new cloud technologies under guidance

• Participate in proof-of-concept projects for cloud solutions

• Contribute to the development of cloud-native applications and services

• Assist in optimizing cloud resources and identifying cost-saving opportunities

• Support cloud-based digital transformation initiatives

• Learn about AI and machine learning applications in cloud environments

• Help migrate legacy systems to cloud architecture following established plans

• Implement solutions for common cloud challenges under supervision

• Follow cloud governance and security best practices

• Gain experience with containerization technologies

• Assist in maintaining multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments

• Support cloud resilience and disaster recovery efforts

• Learn about edge computing and its integration with cloud systems

• Apply DevOps and SRE practices in daily work

• Monitor cloud performance and assist with basic troubleshooting

• Practice using infrastructure-as-code tools and techniques

What will you need to succeed?

• Growing experience in working with technical teams and contributing to project delivery

• Developing understanding of cloud services offerings and their business applications

• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues

• Building relationships with team members and immediate stakeholders

• Improving presentation and written communication skills for team-level interactions

• Solid technical foundation with eagerness to learn new technologies

• Developing technical skills, able to assist senior team members and contribute to projects

• Learning to communicate technical concepts clearly to immediate team and stakeholders

• Basic knowledge of IT engineering and operational practices, applying them in day-to-day tasks

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively

• Beginning to build a professional network within the organization and industry

Experience, Skills and Education:

• Possesses a university degree and/or 5+ years relevant work experience

• 1-2 years of hands-on Cloud Computing experience in enterprise environments

• Experience in executing and optimizing processes following industry frameworks such as CMMI, ITIL, or Six Sigma

• Experience in implementing processes to meet organizational needs at an enterprise level

Tools and Technology

• Knowledge of multiple major cloud platform hyperscalers such as AWS, GCP, Azure, AliCloud

• Understanding IaaS and associated enterprise-grade tooling such as Terraform, CloudFormation, resource manager, deployment manager

• Programming and scripting capabilities with proficiency in multiple languages such as Java, JavaScript, YAML, Python, .Net, or other relevant languages

• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools: Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, OpenShift, with experience in large-scale implementations

This role requires Reliability Status Clearance. The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
