Survey Technician (Entry-Level to Crew Chief)

This role is eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, subject to the terms and conditions of the Company's sign-on bonus program.

We are seeking motivated Survey Technicians to support a wide range of surveying and geospatial projects throughout the region. This position offers opportunities for candidates at various experience levels, from entry-level field personnel to experienced Crew Chiefs. Successful candidates will participate in boundary, topographic, construction, utility, aerial mapping, and control surveys utilizing the latest survey technologies including GNSS, robotic total stations, UAVs, and data collection systems.

This position involves both field and office responsibilities and provides opportunities for career growth and advancement within a dynamic surveying and engineering environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Survey Operations

• Assist with or lead topographic, boundary, construction stakeout, as-built, utility, and control surveys.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment including GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, digital levels, and data collectors.
• Perform survey data collection and field measurements in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
• Establish and verify survey control networks and benchmarks.
• Collect accurate field notes, observations, and daily reports.
• Transport, set up, and care for survey equipment and field supplies.

Geospatial & Emerging Technologies

• Support aerial mapping and data acquisition using unmanned aerial systems (UAS/UAV).
• Utilize modern geospatial technologies including RTK/Network GNSS, cloud-based data transfer, and digital workflows.
• Assist with LiDAR scanning, photogrammetry, and 3D reality capture projects when applicable.

Office Support & Data Processing

• Download and organize field data.
• Perform survey computations and stakeout calculations.
• Assist with processing survey data using Carlson, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related software platforms.
• Prepare survey deliverables, sketches, and reports as experience permits.

Teamwork & Safety

• Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, utility representatives, and clients.
• Follow company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Promote a safe and professional work environment.
• Mentor and train less experienced team members when assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of survey equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills and aptitude for learning survey technology.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality.

Preferred

• Associate's Degree in Surveying Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or related field.
• Experience operating GNSS equipment, total stations, levels, and survey data collectors.
• Familiarity with Carlson, Trimble, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other survey software.
• Knowledge of construction plans, engineering drawings, and survey procedures.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification or interest in obtaining certification.
• Experience with UAV mapping, LiDAR, or photogrammetry.

EXPERIENCE LEVELS CONSIDERED

Entry-Level Survey Technician / Rodman

• No prior survey experience required. Training provided.

Instrument Operator / Survey Technician

• 1+- years of field survey experience preferred.

Survey Crew Chief

• 3+ years of progressively responsible survey experience.
• Ability to independently manage field crews, equipment, and project tasks.
• Experience coordinating field activities and communicating with clients and contractors.
