The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take ownership of a high-value software product, shaping its backend services and the user-facing screens that sit on top of them. The work blends hands-on engineering with experimentation, metric-setting and regular partnership with colleagues from several business functions.
What you'll do
- Lead a core product from concept through production, building automation that removes manual steps from a multi-stage workflow.
- Write dependable server-side code, mainly in Java, and contribute user interface work that makes progress and results easy to see.
- Use controlled experiments to lift automation rates and success rates, and set the measures that show whether changes are paying off.
- Keep the platform healthy by choosing solid designs, writing tests, adding monitoring and aiming for minimal downtime.
- Partner with product, data, operations and support teammates so that customer input becomes concrete technical improvements.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally at a leading technology company.
- A history of delivering large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed services.
- Background in workflow automation, system integrations or payment and dispute processing.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related STEM discipline.
- Deep working knowledge of Java for server-side development.
- Senior-level ability to design systems and make architectural decisions.
- Comfort contributing on both the server side and the user interface.
- Skill at explaining engineering trade-offs in plain language to colleagues outside engineering.
- Current US work authorization and availability to work on-site five days a week in Seattle.
