Network Engineer II

What this Job Entails:

The Level 2 Network Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational management of enterprise and data-centre network infrastructure. The role involves investigating and resolving network incidents and service requests escalated from Level 1 support, performing network changes, monitoring infrastructure, troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues, and working with Level 3 engineering teams and vendors on complex problems.

The engineer will work across technologies such as switching, routing, firewalls, wireless networks, WAN/LAN connectivity, network monitoring, and data-centre infrastructure while following established operational procedures, security standards, and change-management processes.

Scope: 

• Provide operational support for enterprise and data-centre network infrastructure.
• Support LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and network connectivity.
• Troubleshoot Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues.
• Monitor network infrastructure and respond to alerts, incidents and service requests.
• Implement approved network changes, upgrades, configurations and hardware replacements.
• Support network performance, availability and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Maintain network documentation, configuration records and operational procedures.
• Coordinate with Level 3 engineering teams, vendors and service providers for complex issues.
• Support incident, problem and change-management processes in accordance with operational standards.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide Level 2 technical support for enterprise and data-centre network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and resolve network incidents, connectivity issues and service requests.
• Troubleshoot routing, switching, firewalls and network issues.
• Monitor network infrastructure and respond to alerts and service-impacting events.
• Perform approved network configurations, changes, upgrades and hardware replacements.
• Conduct structured troubleshooting and escalate complex or unresolved issues to Level 3 engineering teams.
• Support incident, problem and change-management processes.
• Coordinate with vendors, service providers and cross-functional infrastructure teams to resolve network issues.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, configuration records and troubleshooting procedures.
• Participate in network maintenance, service restoration and continuous improvement activities.
• Ensure all work follows established security, operational and change-management standards.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 2 to 5 years’ related experience 
• Have a full understanding of routing, switching, server operating systems, firewalls, wireless controllers, DNS, email, virtual machines and software applications
• Builds productive internal and external working relationships
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
• Familiarity with content delivery networks and internet peering strategies
• Understanding of server hardware technologies relative to content delivery performance and capacity

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Industry-recognized networking certification such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIS, Arista ACE, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting data-centre, enterprise, or 24×7 network operations environments.
• Exposure to network automation or scripting

Physical Demand & Work Environment:

• Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
• Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
• Must be able to use a computer
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively 
• Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Salary Range

50,640.00 - 63,300.00 EUR (Annual)
