About the Role
ThreatLocker is seeking a skilled and motivated Web API Developer to join our cybersecurity engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain secure and scalable RESTful APIs using C#/.NET. These APIs connect critical components of ThreatLocker’s endpoint protection platform, including agents, services, data layers, and user-facing applications.
The ideal candidate has solid experience with C#/.NET and Web API development, along with a working understanding of the MVC pattern and separation of concerns. You will collaborate with experienced developers and cross-functional teams to build reliable endpoints, improve existing services, and continue growing your technical skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure RESTful Web APIs using C#/.NET.
- Apply the MVC pattern and separation of concerns when organizing controllers, models, services, and data-access components.
- Implement API endpoints with appropriate request validation, authentication, authorization, error handling, and logging.
- Integrate APIs with SQL Server and other internal services while considering reliability and performance.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving API behavior, request processing, concurrency, and data access.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, QA, and other teams to refine requirements and deliver dependable solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of the codebase and development process.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of professional experience developing applications with C#/.NET and ASP.NET Web API or ASP.NET Core.
- Working knowledge of the MVC pattern, including controllers, models, routing, dependency injection, middleware, and request/response handling.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs using HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON.
- Familiarity with asynchronous programming, exception handling, logging, and debugging in .NET.
- Hands-on experience using ADO.NET directly for SQL Server data access, including commands, parameters, stored procedures, transactions, and data readers.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, including input validation, authentication, authorization, and protection of sensitive data.
- Experience using Git, participating in code reviews, and working within a collaborative development workflow.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with both .NET Framework and modern .NET, including .NET 8.
- Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and automated unit or integration testing.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, or automated build and deployment workflows.
- Exposure to cybersecurity, endpoint protection, or other security-focused software products.
- Understanding of API performance, scalability, monitoring, and observability concepts.
- Familiarity with containerized environments, cloud platforms, or IIS-hosted applications.
- Microsoft, .NET, cloud, or cybersecurity certifications are a plus.

- Job will generally be performed in an office environment but may require travel to visit company offices and/or property locations.

- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
A background check and drug/substance screening are required after a conditional offer. Employment will proceed only upon receiving clear results from both.
