Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

This is a full-stack engineering role at a Series A/B construction technology SaaS company building an all-in-one operating platform for contractors, covering payroll, HR, field operations, and expense management. You will join a cross-functional team to design and ship large, complex technical products that directly shape how contractors run their businesses. The role blends hands-on implementation with technical leadership and close collaboration with product and design partners.

What You'll Do

• Lead end-to-end design and implementation of large, complex technical products across the full stack.

• Build and maintain modular frontend UI and backend API infrastructure.

• Develop data models and APIs, and implement integrations with payments and payroll services.

• Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to understand user needs and influence strategic decisions.

• Deliver production-ready software using Node.js/Express.js, MongoDB, TypeScript, React, and React Native, deployed via cloud infrastructure.

• Drive best practices in testing, performance, and security, and mentor peers to raise engineering standards.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of full-stack or senior software engineering experience delivering complex, production systems at scale.

• Demonstrated experience leading the development of large, complex technical products in high-caliber engineering environments.

• Proficiency with MongoDB, Node.js, Express.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

• Strong expertise in data modeling, API development, and building modular full-stack infrastructure.

• Experience with React and React Native.

• Familiarity with Stripe (Issuing and Treasury), Render, and payroll infrastructure services.

• Background at early-stage, high-growth startups or large-scale tech companies.

• Product- and user-oriented mindset with a track record of contributing to strategic and product decision-making.

• Strong CS fundamentals and clear communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics to non-technical stakeholders.

• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $190,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

Hybrid, based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY. On-site presence in one of these two locations is required.
