In this position...
The EE&S FC PVT Engineer position is located at Kansas City Assembly Plant and is responsible for FC (Vehicle Controls Software) quality on the F-150 (P702) vehicle line. As a member of the Plant Vehicle Team (PVT), you will serve as the first line of defense for software quality on the electrical systems built at the assembly plant — including body control module, door module, driver seat module, trailer module, headlamp control module, lighting control module, restraint control module, tailgate module, keys, horn, displays, clusters, radio, amps, and speakers — associated with VFG V17 Electrical Accessories Function Software.

What you'll do...

You'll work in close partnership with the hardware PVT Engineer covering these same modules, as well as with the Dearborn Truck Plant hardware counterparts (V20), to ensure end-to-end quality across all software systems related to our F150 vehicle line up.

• Prioritize and drive interim containment actions (ICA) and permanent corrective actions (PCA) to address customer software quality concerns from various sources (i.e., Warranty, Executive Escalations and Technical Hotline.)
• Take a central role in resolving customer software issues and reducing warranty.
• Take ownership of customer critical software issues and ensure resolution is achieved.
• Perform module reflashing and support PLOTA (Plant Parking Lot Over-The-Air) software updates.
• Track software versions across modules and manage the trial and validation of new software coming into the plant.
• Support end-of-vehicle diagnostics using tools such as FDRS, TechPro, and DET to triage and resolve in-plant and field concerns.
• Warranty claims analysis (i.e., reading claims, contacting dealerships/utilizing connected vehicle data for further technical detail, confirming parts return/analysis) related to software concerns.
  Bin claims into proper categories and track improvement actions through the Quality AI IRIS/SIMPSN system.
• Develop, manage, and own SIMPSN projects to track and document software quality improvement actions to deliver Vehicle Line objectives.
• Communicate any help needed to contain issues through the vehicle functional group (VFG) quality quarterbacks and functional quality reviews (FQR).
• Utilize external and internal quality data to develop ICA/PCA actions for in-plant software quality concerns and external warranty claims.
• Work closely with STA (Supplier Technical Assistance) engineers and suppliers to address software-related supplier quality concerns.
  Identify and deliver current model design/software projects with support from core and VFG leaders.
• Initiate/support Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) Concerns (CR) and alerts for software changes and plant trials.
• Maintain clear communication on daily work/activities with direct supervisor and peers, balancing daily and weekly demands.
• Work collaboratively with hardware PVT and VRT counterparts at Dearborn Truck Plant for common issue identification and containment.
• Lead plant trials for software quality, cost, and supplier improvements.
• Support resolution of stop ships/builds, campaigns, quality issues, and first-time-through (FTT) issues related to software.
• Support daily binning meetings, daily plant quality meetings, biweekly VRT report-outs, and monthly Vehicle Quality Reviews.
• Support launch activities on major and minor programs.

You'll have...

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 2+ years of experience as a proficient user of Microsoft Office applications.
• 1+ years of experience with, and interest in, using AI tools to improve day-to-day efficiency.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work well with people, specifically in an assembly plant environment and across multiple cultures.

Even better, you may have...

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience as a product/quality engineer, preferably in electrical/software, with knowledge of quality containment and corrective actions.
• Experience working with software testing tools, including Vector, FDRS, CAN diagnostics, and DET.
• Experience working in GSAR, JIRA, BSAQ, QED, SREA, AIMS, WERS, and IRIS/SIMPSN (training provided).
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification.

This position is a salary grade 6 or 7 and ranges from $74,300-$125,500.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
